11/04/2007 POP3 Component 2.4.2 (OSPOP3.dll) is available for download. Component allows to retrieve email messages from POP3 mailserver, check mailbox status, parse retrieved messages from Visual Basic 6 and other programming and scripting languages, supporting COM. New version fixes case conversion in attachment headers and "disappearing" HTML part in non-fully POP3-compliant messages.
07/29/2007 SMTP Component 6.4.5 (OSSMTP.dll) is available for download. Component allows to send emails from Visual Basic 6 and other COM-compliant programming and scripting languages. Supports multiple recipients, email (MIME) attachments, AUTH and POP3 authentication, HTML email, custom headers. Latest release fixes character shift in Base64-encoded emails, adds built-in support for quoted-printable messages. If your message, subject or any email address field contains non-ASCII characters - don't forget to set a valid charset and content transfer encoding! (by default, SMTP sets charset to "us-ascii" and content transfer encoding to "7bit"). For most Western Europian languages you should use the following settings:
.ContentTransferEncoding = "quoted-printable"
.Charset = "iso-8859-1"
For Asian and Cyrillic languages use base64 encoding:
.ContentTransferEncoding = "base64"

11/15/2006 Warning. There is a new wave of emails on Internet, supposedly sent from OstroSoft. Remember - email headers are very easy to forge. Use common sense and spam filters. Configure your mailservers not to bounce invalid messages - it helps against spammers.
OstroSoft never sends emails with attachments. If you receive one - it's fake. Even worse - it's almost guaranteed to contain a virus. OstroSoft website is the only reliable place to obtain OstroSoft software.

Good news - it's not an issue anymore.
As reported by our customers (Webroot never got back to us), latest SpySweeper release no longer flags OSSMTP.dll as a spyware.

12/11/2005 OstroSoft Winsock Component 2.3 (oswinsck.dll) is available for download. Component provides an easy access to the network layer of operating system (UDP and TCP sockets) and serves as a wrapper for Winsock API, helps programmers to abstract from complexity of API calls and concentrate on application functionality. New version offers improvements in blocking TCP object.
